We’ve been working alongside Yellow Buses (YB) since the early days of Base. Over the years, we’ve helped instigate a seismic shift in attitude towards the web and how it can be used to support core business. We’ve challenged traditional beliefs by delivering consistently on the development and implementation roadmaps we’ve laid out over last three years.
Consistent growth, year on year
With every enhancement to online services we’ve seen consistent growth in traffic from passengers accessing information from their desktops and more recently on the move, via recently launched mobile apps. With roughly a 90% increase in visitors to the site every year we’ve been working with YB, we’ve seen some great feedback from passengers about the efforts being made to provide the level of online services that we’ve all come to expect.
Mobile apps for iPhone and android
Most recently we’ve launched an iPhone and Android mobile app to further extend the functionality of the journey planner we launched in Q1. The whole system shares the same data so that when network changes are made the updates feed directly through to the apps simultaneously. Wherever the information is accessed from, it’s the same data source across the board.
A to B Journey Planning
After a period of consultation with the operations staff at YB we began development of a journey planner for the website. We designed a system that would automatically process the network and route data generated by the bus operator’s timetabling software and calculate shortest journeys around the network. Online ticket sales and content management
The bybus.co.uk site integrates an ecommerce store, selling advance tickets and memorabilia. This sits alongside full content management built on the open source system WordPress.
Dedicated server hosting platform
We manage the dedicated server hosting platform that is required for the Journey Planning and mobile applications.
