A couple of months ago, Matt and I were discussing ideas for personal projects and we kept coming back to the idea of a web app which tracked the music we’d been listening too.
I remembered our conversation one night recently and decided to give it a go.

165 days of digital
It’s the end of the month and I have been at Base for five months now! The time has just flown, my days here have been packed with all things digital! Stuff I never knew existed as a Fine Art Student! WordPress, plug ins, litmus tests, cookies, wysiwygs! Being the rather gullible person I am, I spend a lot of my time trying to figure out whether my computer geek colleagues are pulling my leg as they speak in their own special computer geek language which often sounds totally made up to my untrained ear!!
I’ve been involved in Base’s first mobile app, on both the Android and iPhone platforms. All very exciting, particularly as the feedback comes in from travellers out and about using it on the buses.

Part of the reason I like developing websites so much is that the web is arguably the most open and accessible platform there is. Someone in Japan can publish a website that can be viewed by someone in Brazil seconds later.

One of the first thing I learnt about designing for the web was image compression, or more accurately optimisation. At the time I’ll admit a lot of it went over my head, but it was clear important.
