There is only one way to eat an elephant

Thoughts on our digital diet

Being a creative agency means that we work on a lot of different types of creative projects, often as part of a larger strategy for a client. The projects we work on can be so varied, we have to break them right down in order to plan them properly.

Each project has clear desired outcomes and putting the right people on the right jobs is crucial to getting results. As we're digital specialists we also have to make sure that any other aspects of the strategy are planned carefully too. This includes any print design, any offline PR and any events that need to be put on.

Planning how we're going to tackle everything and setting milestone deadlines for the different elements of the project is the only way to make sure that all the pieces of the jigsaw fit together before delivering it all to the world.

Take one of the projects we're working on at the moment. We're developing a flash game for a client's birthday celebrations. Their marketing department is organising the festivities and co-ordinating the different agencies involved and so our piece of this jigsaw is relatively small. But even that small piece involves a creative game idea that fits with the theme of the celebrations, vector based graphic design work and flash interaction development. Not to mention some database communication in order to store high scores and prize winner details. So there's plenty involved just for our bit.

With thorough planning creative projects come together really well and it's great to see the fruits of the team's labour out there in the wild of the Internet, especially with engaging projects like games.

But whatever the size of the elephant, there's definitely only one way to eat it: One bite at a time!
